Trinity Church began as an evening worship service, led by Ian Cron, at Stanwich Congregational Church in the backcountry of Greenwich, CT. Within a year, the sanctuary of Stanwich could no longer accommodate the crowd!
Thankfully, Second Congregational Church, the mother church of Stanwich, allowed us to "borrow" their sanctuary in downtown Greenwich on Sunday evenings. Soon the service was attracting people from all over Fairfield County as well as Westchester County in New York.
a new church?
"Is God calling us to become a new church?" That's the question that Ian and the other Stanwich ministers and Council members began to ask. After several months of prayer and meetings, the answer was a decisive "YES!"
On May 9, 1999, Trinity held its first Sunday evening service as "Trinity Church." Trinity continues to maintain a close relationship with our birth parent, Stanwich Church. We now meet at Central Middle School. More information is available here.
emphasis on community
Today Trinity continues its journey from Sunday evening service to biblical community by valuing and emphasizing relationships -- our individual and collective relationship with God through Jesus, and our relationships with each other. Just as quantum physics now defines the nuclear world as nothing outside relationships that exists between particles, so Trinity is defined by its relationships within the community. We want everyone who comes to be connected to this web of relationships, where personal discipleship and community commitment flourish.
